Monday Blues

It’s raining and I think I’m still hungover…

This is NOT how I wanted to start my Monday. Yesterday was the ultimate lazy day. I had homework to do for my grad school class and am just saving it for tonight. I didn’t go grocery shopping and I have a shit ton of laundry to do. So what DID I do yesterday? I pretty much laid on my couch all day. I can’t even remember the last time I did that. Needless to say – today is a struggle. I did a lot of drinking and eating this weekend and feel like I need another day to recuperate and get my week in order.

The weather was great up here…sunny and cold. I went to Telegraph Hill on Saturday and Sunday for some fresh air and a great view. We’ve been getting a lot of rain and its been miserable so it was lovely to have some sun and a little dose of spring. I hope everyone had good weather and was able to get out there and have some fun. This week I have a lot going on – more training for work, a lot of school work and a lot of things need to get done around the house!

I will be back this week with some good makeup posts 🙂 🙂

My boo came up to see me Friday night and I dragged him on this walk. But – the views from the top make it so worth it.

Selfie from the top of Telegraph Hill. A must have for those that live in Southie.

My roommate’s mom came over yesterday and we all cooked together. It was so great. Those bagels are on challah bread. Carb heaven.

The last part of the climb up to Telegraph Hill. This is a really fun place to get your work out in. I love the it.

Amazing. Just when you feel lost in the city – I always look out and think, “wow I am so lucky to live here and work in such a great city”.

Monday Blues and Foundation Routine

Hello, world. Yes, I am one of those lucky SOB’s that had the day off. God it has been so great. You all must think I am quite lazy since I always seem to be looking for that NEXT day off. Perhaps it is my “work hard play hard” mentality that keeps me yearning for a day to myself! Either way I enjoyed having this extra day so I could literally fit in everything I wanted to this weekend – family, boyfriend, roommate, shopping, workout and food!

I hope everyone enjoyed their own rendition of Valentine’s Day. Even though I do have a boyfriend, I would still celebrate it…it’s about LOVE. Also, it is my mom’s favorite holiday. She sent me a homemade card, polka-dot pink socks and these adorable fingerless gloves…despite her recent health scare (she may have to have a hysterectomy) she still never misses a beat with this sort of stuff. Mom’s are so unbelievable. I am a very very lucky girl. I am fortunate to say that if I am half the woman my mother is I can die happy.

My boyfriend came up to see me and he bought me pink roses…and they were BRIGHT pink. Perfectly planned – I had on a bright pink cashmere sweater and he was so happy that we coordinated. It’s the little things. Also, his card to me was just the friggen sweetest. I cried. I didn’t even cry at my birthday card but I did when I opened this one. The card was so personalized. The illustration, the saying on the inside and then of course Nate’s handwritten note tugged at my heart a little bit. I felt fortunate in that moment!

Also, I got my nails done, got my brows done (long overdue) and my roommate and I went to MAC to take a peek at some of the new releases in the Pink Flamingo collection….maybe I bought a thing or two ;). OBVIOUSLY I did. I will feature a little mini haul this week.

Here are some pictures. I ate a lot and drank a lot but it was with people that I ADORE and that makes it all so worth it to me. Also, our apartment has been quite the botanical garden and I am really enjoying it! Below, I will have my current foundation routine for you all as well.

Thank you for reading

My detox drink of choice!

My favorite shop in South Boston – Neatly Nested. They had a floral bar and prosecco for Valentine’s weekend. Just so adorable.

The love table. Roses and card.

As I told you all last week, I have been really into sponges for blending my face makeup and I wanted to update all of you on what I have currently been doing because I think it has been a little while. In the winter my skin is so fickle lately due to the weather It was -3 here yesterday. Same days things are hanging in there and then there are days where I have these purple patches on my cheeks that take forever to subside from the wind and cold…Finding a perfectly balance is hard!

So first, I use the pink Beauty Blender to apply my face makeup. I have been mixing this L’Oreal Liquid to Powder foundation which I love! I almost finished with it and because it is in my winter color, I would like to use this up completely. I have been mixing this in with my Becca Acqua Luminous Perfecting Foundation. I have the color medium and I use this to mix because it’s gives me color and is very hydrating and keeps everything looking healthy. I can’t wait to use this in the summertime…it is going to look so good with a tan.

Next, I use my Urban Decay concealer and blend that in with my Sephora Collection sponge. It has a smooth, flat side that fits perfectly in my under eye area so blending is seamless. I like to use the bottom side for blending highlighter. It just puts the product right where it needs to go.

Other than what is shown – I hardly use powder because it is the winter and I need that extra boost so this is truly what I have been using the past month or so. I do set my concealer under my eyes a couple of times a week if my eye cream hasn’t sunk in all the way by the time I apply make up for work.

Monday Blues

Hello everyone. Today is especially painful…I am coming down from a weekend full of boozing and eating double my body weight in fried food and desserts. I am glad that Halloween is over! It is just not my favorite holiday. I was not  going to dress up but then decided to. I remembered that in 8th grade I randomly decided to do tap and had saved my recital costume…It kind of fit…I mean yea, you could clearly make out my love handles and it was tight, but I just went for it. I ended up buying a $10 bobbed wig and then spotted one of those glittery, skull-cap things like Beyonce wears in Partition and just had to have it. I was a flapper but some people thought I was a gypsy…but whatever…I at least made the effort! Yesterday I spent the day resting but was able to rally and head out to brunch in the South End and have a Bloody Mary without wanting to die. I ended the day with a walk and some hot pot for dinner.

This morning I had to get up early to do a spin demo at a company in the Seaport. Some of these company’s on site fitness centers in Boston are so impressive and this one was no exception. It was a great demo ride and I made an instant connection with the group fitness director so I will now be adding Tuesday night to my weekly classes. Before I started my new job in July I was teaching Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday nights and wasn’t all that happy teaching that many classes. I think part of that was because I was so stressed out at my last job and the stress of taking the T to the places and waiting for public transportation just took a toll on me after awhile. But now that I have an established schedule with my current job and have worked through some kinks with my car and parking, I am excited to be teaching this Tuesday night class and going back to my three night a week routine. Where this new opportunity is located is an up and coming area and the median age for employees is 30 so I am looking forward to meeting some new people and networking.

Happy Friday everyone! This week just sort of seemed to drag! I could honestly care less about it being Halloween. I think I would rather spend the money on a NYE dress than buy a costume. Just my opinion. I am going home to RI for the night to see the fam and my boyfriend and then will be coming back up to Boston forSaturday. I honestly am really looking forward to going home for just one night and seeing some of my favorite people.

Last night after work I randomly decided that I was going to go out for a run no matter how late I got home or how tired I was. There was something about the temperature being in the mid 70’s in October and knowing that it was probably going to be one of the last times I could run after work with it still being light outside. As soon as I got home, I laced up and took to the streets of Southie. It was such a great run. I had no expectations and enjoyed my music without doing counts for spin. I went straight to Castle Island for my run and the sunset was just MAGNIFICENT. The wind was so strong that I felt like my obliques were taking a beating but I felt so alive and just fought through it. I ended my run by HAULING ASS up G Street which is straight uphill. I have ran up it many times and sometimes I make it to the top without stopping and sometimes I only last about 30 seconds. I kept repeating over and over in my head “FIGHT FOR IT”. I didn’t stop once and then it was only about 5 minutes to home from there. I felt like I could have kept going by the time I reached my place.

I very rarely run anymore. In college I always ran and took spin to supplement my soccer training and then after college I started teaching spin right away so I never really harvested my running skills. I have run two 10-mile road races in my hometown which are a blast and this past summer I really wanted to run it for my third time, but my allergies were horrible and I couldn’t get a handle on them, I was really stressed out at my job and then I started a new job…the timing was just awful. But after last night’s run, I can say it was one of the best runs I have ever had and it seriously motivated me to hit the streets!

Here is one of the pics from my run! Thanks for reading everyone and I will talk to you this coming week! Everyone have a FAB weekend!!

Happy Friday to one and all! I hope everyone’s weeks went by quickly…With Monday being a holiday , four day weeks sometimes tend to drag and be extra busy. After being in NYC, being exposed to my boyfriend who was sick as well as my roommate, I inevitably also came down with a cold. It was not one that knocked me on my a$$ or anything, but definitely one that was JUST SO ANNOYING. At least today I seem to have more of a productive cough but I still feel under the weather. However, here are a few things this week that I am currently loving.

This ring I bought from Bauble Bar is so simple but I have reached for it almost everyday since I bought it. I think tortoise is so classic and this square shape makes it unique. Since I have been wearing a lot of black, this ring just feels like the right choice. It was only $18! STEAL.

C.O. Bigelow Cold and Flu Soak ~ I picked this up in NYC and thought “Well I know I am going to get sick soon so I might as well buy this”…and POOF! Just like that, here I am with a cold. I used this in my bath last night. This helped me feel so much better. Just when I thought the menthol and eucalyptis scent was dissolved, I turned on the jets and it was restored. This stuff just keeps on giving. If you don’t like a lot of sud action, then this is nice. The liquid is thin and I love the color of it. I highly recommend this, but an easier alternative to get a hold may be the Kiss My Face bath soak. It’s very similar and a little bit cheaper.

Even though I kept felt worse as the day went on, I forced myself to head out for a walk after work. I didn’t start walking until almost 6:00, but the sunset was beautiful. Here are a couple of pictures. The sky went from pastels to this firey orange and blue. The crescent moon was stunning. By the end of my walk, I felt better and felt so relaxed. When you’re sick it is so important to listen to your body. I knew I couldn’t have handled a run or an intense lifting session, but I knew the walk would help me take my mind off being sick. In the fall I love being outside at night. The cool air does so much for me!

Here is my lip trio for the week. Charlotte Tilbury’s Lip Cheat in Pillow Talk followed by Revlon’s Silver City pink for a little bit of a pink frosted pop and then finished with Rimmel’s Stay Glossy Lip Gloss in Non Stop Glamour.

Monday Blues

Ughh Hey Monday…I still don’t like you. I hope everyone had a great weekend. I did not want it to end! I stayed in Boston and my boyfriend came up. We ordered Tasty Burger on Friday and Saturday night because we are just SO healthy and we spent Saturday night on a close friend’s new roof deck which had nothing less than a spectacular view of Boston. I did go to M Street beach on Saturday which was great because it was just the perfect temperature and hardly anyone was there. Then of course we participated in Sunday Funday by spending the day at Stats to watch the game! Here are a few pics from my weekend. I’ll be back this week!

Thanks for reading!

What does this picture NOT capture of the Boston skyline? South Boston views are pretty impressive.

I took a little trip to Neatly Nested and picked this candle up. I loved it because it didn’t smell too much like fall and not a whole lot like summer. I’m loving it.

A busy Stats for the Pats game. Their buffalo chicken spring rolls are AMAZE.

M Street Beach. I love the colors in this photo – the gradient nature of the blue sky, the teal undertones of the water and the neutral sand. Small piece of heaven.

Another purchase from Neatly Nested. I needed a new makeup brush holder. The wider the top, the better. Lesson learned.

Monday Blues

No matter how fun or how boring my weekend was, I always struggle with Mondays. I never really have gotten along with them. I always feel that no matter how much preparation I did for my work week, I struggle with the start. Even though I am a morning person to the core (yes I was that psychopath in college who always chose to take 8:30am classes) I struggle with putting one foot in front of the other at the beginning of the week. In the summer time I relish long beach days with a good magazine followed by an outdoor dinner and drinks. Living in New England, we wait all year for those twelve weeks of bliss so I always feel guilty when I am inside. Perhaps this is why I have loathed Mondays more than ever! I always love going through my camera roll at the beginning of the week to relive those awesome moments but to also remind myself that the weekend is a permanent fixture in our lives and will be arriving shortly. Below I have included some snippets of my weekend!

I love my Henry. He has been limping around the house the last week or so. He took off in hot pursuit for a rabbit outside. Poor thing <3

One of my favorite places to eat in my hometown - 210 Oyster Bary and Grille. I never actually choose this dish but just went for it! Finished the whole thing.

If anyone lives in Southie they know that planes are constantly in their line of vision. The airport is so close to use and they just line right up, one after the other. This one was not flying as low as some of them do but it was a great shot.

A view of the city from the jetty. Love this one. You get the whole skyline.

It was little too much to finish in one sitting, but I did it anyways. Brie with stoned wheat crackers is ilfe.
